Background and experience of Jon Andrews, CPA
Professional:
Jon Andrews began preparing tax returns in 1978. He joined a small local CPA firm in 1981 and started Jon Andrews, CPA in December of 1986. In 1987, Litigation Support and Business Consulting were added to the practice mix. Additional services have been added through the years in order to serve the growing needs of our client base. Membership in the Texas Society of CPA's, Consulting Services Division-AICPA, Tax Division-AICPA, Information Technology Division-AICPA, and Institute of Business Appraisers help keep the latest trends and techniques at our fingertips. A rigorous schedule of continuing education provides additional ideas for the practical application of those techniques.We believe in taking an active, and pro-active, role in dealing with tax and financial issues facing individuals and businesses on a daily basis.
Personal:
Jon Andrews has many hobbies and interests outside of accounting. He is a member of Golf Course Road Church of Christ. He enjoys watching and/or competing in sports of many kinds. He especially enjoys watching the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Stars, Texas Rangers, Midland Lee High School Rebels football, University of Texas football, Texas Tech football and basketball, and professional golf. On the competing side, the current preference is roller hockey where he has competed for several national championships including the 1999 WHA National where he was a member of the winning team.
He and his wife, Shelley, have four children. Jon, Jr. was born in 1981 and is a student at Abilene Christian University. Christopher was born in 1982 and graduated from Abilene Christian University. Melissa was born in 1986 and graduated from Lee High School. Evan was born in 1994 and is a student at Midland Christian School.
Community:
Jon is active in the community as well. He has coached in Little League from T-Ball through Pony League (Midland Junior Baseball Association), Midland United Girls Softball, Midland Inline Hockey League, and Power Play Roller Hockey. He has served on various committees of the Chamber of Commerce including being one of the founding members of the Sports Commission. He has been a volunteer for the Junior Achievement program and served on various boards of charitable organizations.
